An appropriate management for biodiversity
Once restored, management of the land is the key to ensuring that the quality of the habitats is maintained over the long term. It is mainly ensured by drawing up a management plan and working closely with the agricultural and forestry players in the area. Nature reserves can be managed in a variety of ways, depending on the habitat to be preserved. For example, in meadows, mowing with export is the preferred management method, while grazing is favoured in grassland-type environments. The choice of animals for grazing is also considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the selectivity of the animals, the species to be preserved or the type of terrain (sheep or goats in steep, dry terrain, cows or hardy horses in flatter and/or wetter environments, etc.).
